BENEFITS of  DSHH - Digital Self Home Heating.

There are many benefits listed below. Some of the benefits of integrating the DSHH system into your home, not the least of which is out of pocket long term cash. If we look at the savings over a typical 30 year mortgage, the results are astounding when current cost increases are factored in. On a ~200 SqM home (2153 SqFt), with the DSHH system with hot water, you can save almost $100,000 dollars! This can vary based on the percentage of energy offset and typical yearly energy costs in your area. These are the savings projected for a typical 20SqM home in Wellington NZ:

It is interesting to note that these numbers are based on averaged NZ annual home heating & hot water costs, and that the average winter temperature inside a NZ home is only 16c. This is well below the World Heath recommendations of a minimum of 18c. Thus the real curve would be much greater if NZ homes were heated to the DSHH level of ~20c .

BENEFITS OF THE DSHH HEATING SYSTEM

There are a number of features and benefits that occur from DSHH Solar Underfloor Heating. The fact that huge out-of-pocket savings will occur, cannot be emphasized enough, however; there are many more things that contribute to the whole beneficial DSHH environment.

Space & Economics

No huge ongoing and ever increasing expenses for energy in heating for as long as you live in the home and the system operates normally. Every square meter of your home can be fully utilized, and no room for ducts or radiators are required.

Cost of imported energy will inevitably and inexorably rise over the next few years. Based on existing 6% price increase trends, the price of energy will roughly double every 10 years due to compounding increases. The DSHH system locks in those savings for the life of the home.

Eco-Friendly, Carbon Neutral

Virtually Zero carbon emissions during the heating operation of this system. As this reduces the need for expensive oil imports, it becomes very close to carbon neutral. In some locations you may be able to sell your carbon credits to establish a secondary income stream, check with your local government.

If a PV (Photovoltaic) power station were added, the DSHH system would easily become carbon neutral, and if increased substantially, the whole house could be designed to be energy carbon negative. For every home or business on the DSHH system, less energy is consumed, less carbon emitted, and less cost to the owner.

Hygiene & Health

There are huge positive health implications. For example: No dust is generated or circulated. The heating will help asthma sufferers as it reduces dust mites at floor level and can virtually eliminate toxic mould and mildew.

The World Health Organization (WHO) advises that if you keep the house above 18.0c, at this temperature mould and mildew is unlikely to grow in normal living areas in your home.

No mould, no invisible allergenic spores, & warm home = improved health.

In a recent trial in Christchurch where hundreds of homes were set up to ensure they maintained or exceeded world health standards, the level of sicknesses reduced to a point where significant savings in healthcare were shown.

Comfort & Intrinsic Happiness

It is pure luxury in winter to come home to a warm home, not worrying whether you can afford to heat it. The DSHH provides comfortable background warmth levels.

Cost effective & Savings

Once installed, the DSHH will typically provide a heating energy saving, from 50% to 100% over your typical heating costs, depending upon location. The improvement when compared to bog-standard, poorly insulated existing home can be significant. Actual results will vary and can be optimized.

Super Quiet

Compared to forced air or radiator systems, there is no noise, no annoying air noises or ticking as pipes expand in floor voids. The pump is typically a three speed 47-92watt unit that is virtually silent when running and costs pennies a month to operate.

2nd Floor

TThe DSHH is designed to operate with a specific ratio between floor area and Core size. A 2nd floor will require some additional design work and may involve the increase in size of the heat core to achieve the best results.

Backup Heat

Integrated Wetback or other boiler heat source is simple, and only requires a few extra components as long as the pipes are in place. You can also order the DSHH system with a Hot Water Heat pump that is integrated onto the system and will also provide backup hot water to the the domestic hot water system.

A DC Inverter heat pump is also a good investment as it provides summer Air Conditioning as well as back up heat in winter.

Note: A heat pump should be sized according to heat loss not just as per house SqM: thus the actual size/cost of a heat pump is much lower in a thermally efficient home.

Ease of control

The DSHH is fully automated for day to day running. Set and forget with periodical checks to ensure all is well.

Safety

The DSHH uses household power at very low current settings. There are no risks associated with gas or fires.
